The Board of Trustees of the Merdeka Award today announced it had awarded two eminent young Malaysians grants for short-term programmes under its Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment.

The inaugural Khalid Kadir Award and Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Johor Branch Award conferment ceremony was held at the Clinical School in Johor Bahru (CSJB) on 17 May 2012. Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences (JCSMHS) Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) graduate Dr. Yo Wee Shuan emerged a proud winner of the Khalid Kadir Award, while the MMA Johor Branch Most Outstanding Student Award went to Dr. Quek Hui Sze. Each of them received the award in the form of cash and medal and plaque respectively.
